CIMC Group President Gao Xiang Leads Delegation to Southeast Asia to Deepen Regional Strategic Footprint

In early April, CIMC Group President Gao Xiang and Vice President Li Yinhui led a delegation on a business tour across Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. The visit aimed to deepen the company's strategic footprint in Southeast Asia, accelerate the rollout of key projects, and elevate strategic partnerships. The delegation prioritized meetings with local industry leaders and benchmark Chinese enterprises expanding globally to foster industrial alignment and collaboration. At Thailand's national oil company, PTT, the two parties engaged in in-depth discussions and reached a consensus on cooperation across the entire LNG value chain, hydrogen energy, and methanol. Cherdchai, Senior Executive Vice President of PTT, spoke highly of CIMC's equipment manufacturing capabilities.

During a visit to Midea’s lighthouse factory in Thailand, the two sides reviewed their successful synergies in steel processing and logistics. Capitalizing on the recent strategic agreement signed between the two groups, they agreed to further deepen cross-border supply chain integration and business linkages. Additionally, the CIMC delegation hosted a networking conference for Chinese enterprises in Thailand, engaging in extensive dialogues with representatives from CNPC, Sinopec, Midea, CITIC Construction, and SAIC Motor-CP. The discussions centered on strategies for joint overseas expansion, resource sharing, and synergistic development.

Furthermore, the delegation held in-depth consultations with government bodies, including the Chinese Embassies in Thailand and Indonesia, as well as the Indonesia Investment Authority. These meetings provided detailed insights into local business environments, policy orientations, and the practical experiences of Chinese firms operating abroad. The embassies voiced their support for CIMC's strategic expansion in Southeast Asia, and offered practical advice on regulatory compliance and partner selection.

In Indonesia, the delegation pushed forward the preparatory work for CIMC's inaugural integrated steel and coking project in the country. Leveraging CIMC's core technology for coke oven gas treatment, the facility will convert industrial emissions into liquefied natural gas (LNG) and blue methanol, championing efficient resource utilization and green, low-carbon development. Meanwhile, the delegation conducted field inspections at CIMC's Tongchuang Factory, Wetrans Depot, and Vehicle Factory in Thailand, as well as the Johor Data Center project in Malaysia. During these visits, executives engaged directly with frontline overseas staff, received detailed briefings on production and operations, and conveyed the Group's support and encouragement.

As a crucial hub of the Belt and Road Initiative, Southeast Asia is rapidly emerging as a new global manufacturing epicenter and a vital consumer market amid the broader restructuring of global supply chains. Looking ahead, CIMC Group will continue to cultivate its presence in Southeast Asia and tap into the market's potential.
